What we have already achieved thanks to your support:
Children’s brochure – Kidney health explained in a child-friendly way
This brochure provides affected children and adolescents, their relatives, their environment and all interested parties with information about the kidneys: how they work, what they do and what treatment they need when they are ill.
It is intended to educate and arouse curiosity about this special organ and its role in the overall miracle of the body.

Camp for children with kidney disease
The first vacation camp for children with kidney disease and their siblings took place in Switzerland over thirty years ago. The camp, which is supported by the Swiss Kidney Foundation, is organized by the Zurich Children’s Hospital.
This summer camp gives affected children and adolescents the opportunity to exchange experiences and also provides their families with a week of relief.
Investigation into the travel costs of dialysis patients
Patients with a chronic kidney disease often have to undergo dialysis treatment. There are various methods for this, such as hemodialysis (blood purification) or peritoneal dialysis (peritoneal dialysis). Hemodialysis is usually carried out in specialized centers. Patients usually have to visit such a center several times a week. However, not everyone lives in the immediate vicinity of such a center. For many people, visiting a center involves a journey. This incurs travel costs that are not usually covered by health insurance. Patients who require hemodialysis are therefore faced with financial burdens.
This study, launched and funded by the Swiss Kidney Foundation, is investigating the impact of travel costs on patients and their families. Measures are now being taken to better inform those affected about support options.
